Garageband for Mac Os X 10.6 8 Free Download
Does this be, and if so could anyone tell me where I can download it?
Only looking for a free version that I can download, don't want to use the app store and don't accept iLife.
I don't need a new and fancy version, something bones is fine - just looking for the latest I can go for complimentary on 10.6.5 if such a thing exists.
No information technology does not exist. The iLife suite in of itself (older versions of it) are non free and at that place isn't a standalone version that is free other than the current version which will not work on Snow Leopard.

But realised my original software reinstall drive (or the one that came with the laptop anyhow - factory slim white apple 8gb stick) says on it "Mac OSX v10.half-dozen, iLife '11".
I tried installing GB (lonely) off information technology just it fails with no reason given. It's the same bulldoze I used for installing OSX and had no problems (it has 10.half-dozen.5 on it).
Is it but the drive being flaky? Seems odd to include an incompatible version.

Did you run the iLife installer, and select a custom install of just Garageband?
Or, just try a file copy from the installer (which will not work)?
Accept you lot tried merely letting iLife install, without changing any settings? You lot can ever just trash the apps that you don't want to keep.
Is in that location some reason that you don't upgrade your OS Ten system to 10.vi.eight? Y'all tin run Software Update, or only download and install the combined updater direct from Apple tree - from hither: http://back up.apple.com/kb/DL1399

Yeah Apple did provide it, it's the one described in the post in a higher place. That is coincidentally my automobile exactly - Tardily '10 MBA and the Apple stick has 10.half-dozen.five and iLife '11 on it. I'm a bit surprised that people here said only GB from iLife '09 would work but it seems the estimator came with '11 - confused.
I ran the installer, and chose a custom install of merely GarageBand (and the compulsory iLife files which you can't united nations-check). I did not effort installing everything but I actually don't want to do that. Enough of gratis space on deejay etc.
It doesn't effort to exercise much and apace says an unknown error occurred, is there a log somewhere I could bank check?
Unless yous have a specially compelling reason not to update to 10.6.eight, run Software Update and apply all the updates that appear. Information technology brand take more one round of update/restart to go them all. (Too note that all the updates you get in Software Update are gratis.) So come across if Garageband installs. If information technology does, you'll need to run Software Update once more to get updates for Garageband.
